HUNTSVILLE, Texas (AP) -- Convicted killer Demarco McCullum, who traded a promising athletic future for a cell on Texas death row, was executed for the abduction, robbery, beating and fatal shooting of a Houston man 10 years ago. In a brief final statement Tuesday, McCullum expressed appreciation and love "to all those who supported me over the years. And I want to let my mom know I love her and will see her in heaven." Seven minutes later, McCullum was pronounced dead at 6:17 p.m. McCullum was the 21st Texas inmate executed this year. "None of us benefit by his execution," Schulman said, noting that McCullum had been a model inmate with no disciplinary infractions. McCullum, who was 19 when he was arrested, blamed his actions on a lack of maturity.

This bugs me...immensely...I know I've talked about this with a lot of people...this is pointless....It benefits no one...and we're killing children...think of the stupid shit you did at the age of 19...granted it wasn't murder...but we did do illegal things...imagine for one of those things you did, having someone say that thats how you will be forever...people can rehabilitate...Who determined that we can play god and keep and kill who we want? Someone should kill the executioner then for killing this kid...and then we should kill the person who killed the executioner...and so on down the line...why does this get us nowhere? CAUSE ITS DUMB!
